Nature in the city wedding at Edinburgh Botanic Gardens

Vilja and Milla are some of the most gentle, sweet souls I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and photographing. Their love for one another is simple, steadfast and unwavering, and their wedding day was grounded in this. When I arrived for prep in the morning, they were putting makeup on together, in the quiet of their lovely home.

The ceremony was held in the John Muir Grove at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, with their closest friends and family welcoming them as they walked down the aisle, hand in hand. Their wonderful celebrant, Sarah Morrison, led the most thoughtful, beautiful ceremony, full of memories of the couple’s love story and celebrating their unquestionable commitment to one another.

We wandered through the gardens chatting and taking portraits, with the welcomed July sun warming our faces. There are so many beautiful spots to choose from for couples portraits, I felt completely spoilt for choice.

Their evening reception, held in the Caledonian Hall, was the most stunning location for some Scottish/Scandinavian fusion of traditions, followed by a ceilidh, hosted by JimJam Ceilidh Band.
